How the calculator works

At the real mid-market rate, everything you pay would arrive on the other side. The difference between that and what actually arrives is the true cost of the transfer. Part of it is the fee you can see; the rest is the markup the provider builds into its exchange rate.

The benchmarks come from the World Bank's survey of what it costs to send $200 between countries: 6.36% on average worldwide in the third quarter of 2025, and 14.55% for banks and 4.85% for digital services in the first quarter of 2025. Larger transfers are usually cheaper in percent.

Want to pay less? Compare money transfer services such as Wise, Revolut and Remitly. Sending euros inside the EU? Then an instant SEPA transfer should cost you the same as a domestic transfer.

Not financial advice. The mid-market rate comes from official reference rates published by central banks (via Frankfurter), updated once per working day, so it can differ slightly from the live rate. Average costs: World Bank, Remittance Prices Worldwide.
